An Introduction to Condos in Arlington VA  

The Arlington VA condominium market has been coming on strong since the 1980's.  More and more people want to take advantage of the conveniences that Arlington has to offer and unfortunately they are not making any new land.  The only alternative is to build up and that is what many smart builders have done in Arlington VA. 

Rosslyn was one of the early hot spots for condominiums in Arlington VA.  The first to come to mind is The Atrium - a beautiful glass high-rise condominium in Rosslyn that was constructed in 1986.  The Atrium is known for its elaborate atrium entrance and Georgetown views. 

If you have ever taken 66 into Georgetown you have no doubt seen The Astoria condo on your right hand side.  It is a classic Arlington condominium that somewhat resembles a brick castle.  Down the street in Rosslyn is The Belvedere condominium.  The Belvedere has always been an icon of class.  You know as soon as you pull up to the circular driveway you are somewhere special.  The Belvedere has a reputation of being a very well managed building with flawless character. 

One thing that Astoria and Belvedere have in common are outdoor tennis courts.  That is something you won’t find in a new Arlington VA condominium these days.  The price of land has skyrocketed and builders are forced to maximize the number of units they build on a given piece of land.  There is usually no room for tennis courts or land that does not support multiple residences. 

Arlington VA condos have evolved to accommodate less space without cramping the style of their inhabitants.  The floorplans of condos have become very open.  Fewer walls and separations create the feeling of more space.  Many Arlington VA condominiums have also gone to large floor-to-ceiling windows to perpetuate an airy feeling for homeowners.  Why not take advantage of the beautiful cityscapes of Arlington and DC.  

Many Arlington VA condos have also come a long way in the closets and kitchen.  The closets are walk-in and the kitchens can be described as gourmet by many people’s standards.  If there is a swimming pool, it is typically on the roof of the building with panoramic views of Arlington and DC.  Most new condominiums in Arlington include a fitness center outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment.  It allows condo owners in Arlington to save a little money every month on a gym membership. 

Despite Arlington VA becoming more dense with homeowners, traffic has not gotten bad within Arlington.  Many condominiums in Arlington are limited on the number of parking spaces they are able to sell.  It highly encourages the use of public transportation in Arlington.  Who needs a car when there is a Metrorail outside your door and a Zip Car in the garage when you need it?
