Free Home Energy Audit

Arbour Realty has teamed up with the home energy professionals at EDGE to provide everyone of our clients with a Home Energy Audit.  Arbour Realty will pay the cost of your home energy audit.  Every home purchase is a major investment and we want to make sure you are making the most informed decision possible.  What the Home Energy Audits entail:

• Audits deliver a comprehensive report that can identify and prioritize cost-effective energy upgrades.
• Illuminate building flaws, insufficient insulation, air leaks, and behavioral changes that can increase comfort and energy savings within the home.
• Infrared imaging and blower door tests are used to benchmark a home's air leakage and help fix the identified breaks in a home's thermal envelope.
• EnergyStar testing for new homes, and HERS ratings for FMNA loans and IRS tax credits

Carbon Neutral

For every person that buys or sells a home with Arbour Realty we will have a tree planted in their honor at one of the National Forests that have been recently damaged.  When we work with  we often spend a lot of time in the car looking for the perfect home.  Once we find the perfect home they often employ a moving truck to bring all their belongings to the new home.  Every time we sell a home we have buyer driving to see it from all over Northern Virginia.  Planting a tree for very home-buyer and seller is our way of offsetting the adverse affects of this driving .  According to the Arbor Day Foundation there are some wonderful benefits to replenishing the forests you can feel good about:

• The roots of these young trees will help hold the soil in place, so it doesn't wash away with heavy rains or melting snow.
• The seedlings will help keep ash from the fire from washing into the rivers and streams, where it can harm fish and people.
• As they grow, the trees will provide homes and food for animals.
• Newly planted trees will keep the air fresh and clean.
• Planting trees today will help make the forest as beautiful as it was before the fire.
• Replanting trees will make hiking, camping, fishing and other fun activities in the forest more enjoyable.

Reduce Waste

Arbour realty wants to be green all the way around.  We are finding alternatives to traditional products that produce further waste and drain on our natural resources.  All our business cards, letter head, newsletters and envelopes are made of 100% recycled paper and printed with soy ink.  Our yard signs will be made of a cutting edge product called Richlite.  It is a renewable, recyclable material that adds a nicer look to the front of your home than the aluminum signs we are all tired of seeing.

Arbour Realty has also discontinued any further direct mail marketing campaigns.  This will eliminate wasting thousands of pages of paper and the energy costs to distribute them.  You can help this cause by asking other real estate agents to do the same or at least switch to recycled materials.
